Meet Guide Todd Stoneking
Your Expert Guide to Trophy Salmon and Sturgeon on Oregon’s Premier Waterways
Todd Stoneking, the driving force behind JT’s NW Guide Service, brings over two decades of local knowledge and a profound personal dedication to every Oregon guided fishing trip. Growing up on the banks of these iconic waterways, Todd developed an intuitive understanding of fish behavior and river dynamics that can only be earned through years of daily experience. His approach to guiding is rooted in the belief that a day on the water should be as restorative as it is exciting. He operates with a quiet confidence and a legendary level of patience, ensuring that every guest—whether a first-time angler or a seasoned pro—feels supported and at ease from the moment they step onto the deck.
For Todd, guiding on the Columbia River and Willamette River is a mission that goes beyond the catch. After the loss of his son to brain cancer, Todd chose to honor their shared dream by dedicating his life to sharing the beauty of the Pacific Northwest with others. This deep-seated resilience translates into a professional yet heartfelt service where the goal is to create a space for families and friends to connect. He isn't just a private fishing guide; he is a steward of the river who takes immense pride in teaching the nuances of the sport, from the delicate "tap" of a biting salmon to the heavy-tackle battle of a trophy sturgeon.
Todd’s reputation as a premier Columbia River fishing guide has been built on his commitment to a stress-free environment. He understands that for many, a guided trip is a significant event, and he treats it with the respect it deserves. Known for his calm demeanor, Todd never raises his voice and views every missed strike as a learning opportunity rather than a mistake. This beginner-friendly philosophy makes him a favorite for families with children, while his technical expertise keeps him in high demand for those chasing "chrome" salmon and prehistoric sturgeon across Oregon's diverse water systems.
